WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up their second conference win on Wednesday with a 6-1 victory over Florida Tech.
The Sailfish won two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point as No. 28 Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu defeated No. 43 Alahna Reto and Maria Chun 6-2 while Nicole Reich and Elvira Edstrom also won 6-1. The Panthers took No. 2 doubles 7-5.
In singles the Sailfish picked up three of their five wins in three sets with Vanessa Buchbinder clinching the match at No. 2 with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Maria Paricio. Bella Mermersky picked up a win over nationally ranked No. 45 Reto 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-4. Nicole Reich was also a winner in three, defeating Lauren Stuckey 6-2, 2-6, 6-3. Consuela Van Grinsven and Elvira Edstrom were also winners on the day, defeating their opponents in straight sets.
The Sailfish are back in action on Saturday as they host No. 2 Saint Leo at 1 p.m.
