WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up their ninth straight win on Thursday, defeating Ferris State 5-2 at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
PBA secured the doubles point by shutting out Ferris State at No. 1 and 3 doubles, winning both by the score of 6-0. Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu were able to defeat Silvia Verebes and Nicole Meylor at the top spot while Nicole Reich and Elvira Edstrom defeated Brittany Lavenant and Patricia Gomez at No. 3.
The Sailfish wrapped up the team win with Buchbinder's victory at No. 1 singles as she defeated Gomez in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Prior to that point the Sailfish saw singles victories from Russu and Verena Weindl. Russu won at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 6-0 over Meylor with Weindl winning 6-2, 6-0 over Verebes at No. 6. Edstrom was also a winner for the Sailfish at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3.
The 'Fish are back in action on Saturday as they host Texas A&M – Kingsville at 1 p.m.
