WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up their eighth straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Hillsdale 4-1.
PBA swept all three doubles matches before taking No. 2, 5 and 6 singles before the match was called with the Sailfish having clinched the team match. The No. 3 and 4 singles matches were both in the third set when the match was called.
Vanessa Buchbinder was the first to finish singles play, defeating Sarah Hackman 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Buchbinder was also victorious at the top double position as she teamed with Yuliia Russu at No. 1. Bella Mermersky and Consuela Van Grinsven also won in doubles, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
Nicole Reich defeated Kamryn Matthews 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 spot. Reich was also able to pick up a win in doubles, teaming with Elvira Edstrom to win the No. 3 spot 6-4. Edstrom also won in singles action, defeating Sophia Spinazze 6-4, 6-4.
The Sailfish are back in action on Thursday as they take on Ferris State at 3 p.m.
