WINTER PARK, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped an SSC game to Rollins College on Saturday afternoon. The Sailfish hung with the Tars throughout but fell 62-54 despite 26 points from senior Jonika Garvin. The Sailfish drop their second straight game and fall to 3-17 overall on the season.
Only four players scored in the first half for the Sailfish on Saturday, as Garvin led the way with 12 points. Mina Salhia added six first-half points as the senior went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. The Sailfish played well on the defensive end, as Garvin picked up three blocks in the half, and the Sailfish held Rollins to just 30 percent shooting from the field.
The Sailfish cut Rollins' led to just five with 7:34 remaining in the third quarter, but were never able to get inside of five points, as the Tars scored 33 second-half points to pick up the eight-point win.
Garvin went 10-for-24 from the field on the afternoon, as she once again led the Sailfish offense. Salhia added 12 points and three assists for the 'Fish, while Self scored seven points and added six rebounds and five assists in the game.
The 'Fish will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 13 as they will face off with Florida Southern at 5:30 p.m. in Lakeland, Fla.
