WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis picked up their first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating St. Thomas 6-0 before rain halted the conclusion of play.

The Sailfish faced little resistance on the day against the Bobcats, winning all three doubles matches by a score of 6-0. PBA dropped just seven games in the five singles matches that reached conclusion.

Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu picked up the win at No. 1 doubles with the teams of Bella Mermersky/Consuela Van Grinsven and Nicole Reich/Elvira Edstrom also winning their doubles matches.

In singles play Buchbinder picked up the win at No. 1, defeating Andrea Gonzalez 6-0, 6-1. Mermersky was a winner at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Manami Maehama while Van Grinsven defeated Mariah Bastos by the same score. Reich and Verena Weindl were also able to pick up singles victories at No. 5 and 6.

The Sailfish return to action on Monday, March 4 to kickoff their weeklong trip to Hilton Head as they take on Erskine at 9 a.m.
