DeShazier Scores 14 but Women's Basketball Falls to NSU

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference game with Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, as the Sailfish fell by a 77-53 final.

The Sailfish hung with NSU during the first 10 minutes, as they were tied with the Sharks at 11 after the opening quarter.  The 'Fish played solid defense in the quarter and picked up key buckets from Jonika Garvin and Mina Salhia.

NSU went on a nice run to close out the second quarter, as they took a 21-13 lead into the half.  Garvin went into the break with 10 points and eight rebounds, but the Sharks did a good job on defense overall as they held the 'Fish to just 33 percent shooting in the opening half.

The Sharks pulled away in the second half of the game as they cruised to a 77-53 win.  Darsan DeShazier had a big second half for the 'Fish, as the senior finished with 14 points to lead the way for PBA.  Garvin finished with another double-double, as she scored 12 points and added 11 boards and three steals.  Salhia scored 12 as well and led the 'Fish with her four assists.

PBA will return to play on Saturday afternoon as they will host Florida Tech for Senior Day.  The 'Fish will honor Garvin, DeShazier, and Salhia before tipoff inside Rubin Arena.
