LAKELAND, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis was unable to pull off an upset on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 9 Florida Southern 6-1.
The Sailfish were able to secure the doubles point as they won at both No. 1 and No. 3. Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu took down Selin Devrimci and Minnie Kim at No. 1 doubles 6-2 while Nicole Reich and Elvira Edstrom were victorious over Natalija Popovic and Gabby Hesse 7-6 at No. 3.
In singles action the 'Fish were shutout as the Mocs won all five matches in straight sets. Edstrom took Popovic to a first-set tiebreak but ultimately ost 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The 'Fish are back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 27 as they host Saint Thomas at 4 p.m.
