WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's tennis came up short on Thursday afternoon, losing to No. 7 Nova Southeastern 7-0.
The Sailfish were able to win one of the doubles matches but failed to pick up a point in the new seven-point team format. The PBA duo of Bella Mermersky and Consuela Van Grinsven were able to defeat Sarah Wardenburg and Natalie Espinal at No. 2 doubles by a score of 7-5. Vanessa Buchbinder and Yuliia Russu fought hard at No. 1 doubles but fell 6-4.
The Sharks swept through singles play with PBA failing to take a set. Van Grinsven forced a tiebreak in the second set at No. 3 singles but ultimately fell to Daniela Obando 6-2, 7-6 (0).
The 'Fish are back in action this weekend as they travel to No. 9 Florida Southern for a 2 p.m. start.
