Garvin and Salhia Both Score 20 as Sailfish Knock off Bucs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Seniors Jonika Garvin and Mina Salhia led the way for Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball on Wednesday night as the 'Fish knocked off Barry 69-55 inside Rubin Arena.  The Sailfish won for the third time in their last six games and improve to 5-18 on the year and 3-14 in SSC play.

The Sailfish led from wire-to-wire on the night as they raced out to a six-point lead and never looked back on the night.  The 'Fish scored 22 points in the opening quarter, as Garvin and Salhia led the way and Darsan DeShazier added a big three midway through the quarter.  PBA struggled a bit offensively in the second quarter but took a 33-27 lead into the break.  Garvin had a double-double in the first half as the senior had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The 'Fish extended their lead in the third quarter, but the Bucs came out firing in the final 10 minutes, and cut the PBA lead to just 57-54 with 4:53 to play in the game.  The Sailfish ended the game on a 12-1 run however to close the door on the conference victory.

The reigning SSC women's basketball player of the week had another monster game, as Garvin posted the first 20-20 game in the PBA NCAA Division II era with 26 points and 20 rebounds.  Salhia added a career-high 20 points, six rebounds, and three steals in the win.  Aniyah Ross had a solid game down low for the 'Fish, as she finished with six points and eight rebounds on 3-of-4 shooting in the game.

PBA will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as they will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. for a 4 p.m. tip with Embry-Riddle.
