Women’s Soccer Routs Florida Memorial on Senior Night

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—In the final home contest of the 2019 regular season, the women's soccer team dominated the Florida Memorial University Lions by a score of 9-0. Eight different players scored and 12 recorded points as PBA moved to 8-7 on the year.

The Sailfish utilized seven first-half goals to take complete control of the match early on. Palm Beach Atlantic used the through ball to its advantage as the team went up 2-0 within the first 15 minutes of play.

Meagan Brown played in Cheyenne Beck, who coolly slotted the ball past FMU's keeper to open the scoring in the 11th minute.

Just four minutes later, Brown found Alo Medina streaking down the center of the pitch. The redshirt-junior took a touch around the goalie and doubled Palm Beach Atlantic's lead.

Following a cross from Carrie Jones in the 27th minute, Kylie Meola notched her second goal of the year with a right-footed shot that found the back of the net to make it 3-0.

As the Sailfish began to open up the game, the squad converted on scoring opportunities to put the contest away in the opening 45 minutes.

Kylee Rullo collected her fifth and sixth tallies of the season with a pair of breakaways in the 30th and 35th minutes. Brown played a ball through for Rullo's first, while the freshman bagged her third assist of the competition in 30 minutes. Senior Kianna Magner then followed suit, playing a pass over the top of the defense that was promptly finished by Rullo for her team-leading sixth score of the season.

Freshman Lexi Turley then capped off a five-goal spurt in 17:02 of time with her first career goal. Senior Trine Seistrup and Andee Kaczocha registered assists by playing quick passes in the midfield before springing Turley in on goal in the 44th minute.

At the half, the Sailfish had an 18-0 shot advantage, while holding the Lions to no chances.

In the second half, seniors Seistrup and Magner each got on the scoresheet with their first tallies of the year.

Just 1:24 into the second frame, Mckenzie Duncan sent a long throw into the box for Seistrup, who deftly touched the bouncing ball into the back of the net with her right foot.

Magner then headed in a free kick from Turley in the 68th minute to end the scoring spree for Palm Beach Atlantic. The Fort Myers, Florida native flicked on the set piece that was sent into the box from near the corner flag and found the far-post side-netting with her attempt.

PBA blanked the Lions 9-0 as redshirt-senior goalkeeper Jez Rubalcava kept a clean sheet in goal for her first shutout of the season.

Overall, Palm Beach Atlantic out-shot Florida Memorial 30-1 on the night, improving to 7-0 against FMU all-time with the triumph.

The Sailfish will conclude the regular season with their important SSC finale against Barry on Tuesday. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Miami.
