PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.—The women's golf team placed sixth at the NSU Shark Invitational today after playing through rainy conditions the past two days at PGA National's Fazio Course.
The Sailfish struggled early in the first rounds as the team fought through worsening weather conditions.
Jewel Jorgensen and
Deanna Confessore then both tied their low-18 scores for the season in the second round, with Jorgensen shooting a 73 (+1) and Confessore notching a 75 (+3).
Jorgensen finished the tournament tied for 12
th individually after shooting a 231. The sophomore collected six birdies over the final two rounds to improve the team score.
PBA went on to shoot its best round of the tournament by registering a 318 on the last 18 holes of the competition.
Confessore, who competed as an individual in the event, tied for 20
th place with a score of 237.
The women's golf team will travel to Dade City next week to participate in the Saint Leo Invitational. Play is scheduled to begin on Oct. 14.
