Tuawn Williams Named Coordinator of Student-Athlete Success

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic has recently added the position of coordinator of student-athlete success with Tuawn Williams being named to the position. This position is funded by the NCAA Division II Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant.

As the coordinator of student-athlete success, Williams will be charged to manage the retention and completion of student-athletes through academic planning while also assisting with NCAA eligibility compliance. He will monitor academic progress, class standing and preform preseason and postseason data review for eligibility requirements.

"I am excited to have Tuawn Williams join our compliance and student services team," said Wispeny Ellis, assistant athletic director for compliance and student-athlete services. "Tuawn is a former student-athlete, teacher, administrator, mentor and coach. His experiences in education will enable him to connect to our student athletes and guide them on the path to academic success.  Tuawn will assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive academic program for our student athletes as well as strengthening our relationships with our campus constituents."

Williams joins the Sailfish after previously serving as a dean of students at two different charter schools in South Florida, as well as a physical education teacher. He most recently was the dean of students at Charter Schools USA/North Broward Academy of Excellence in North Lauderdale where he provided leadership in instructional programs and helped in the supervision and evaluation of staff.

Before that stop he served in the same capacity at Charter Schools USA/Renaissance Charter Schools at Pines in Pembroke Pines. He previously was a physical education teacher, athletic director and coach at St. Lucie West K-8.

The Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant funds full-time, entry-level athletics administrative positions for one academic year.

Williams earned his B.S. in physical education from Florida A&M while also receiving M.S. in management and administration of educational programs from Nova Southeastern and a M.S. in sports administration from the University of Miami.
