DADE CITY, Fla.— The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team ended the Saint Leo Invitational in eighth place after capping off the two-round tournament Tuesday afternoon.
PBA found itself tied for eighth following Monday's round with a field that consisted of five ranked teams and separated from Eckerd to take sole possession of the spot in the final round.
The Sailfish shot a 331 overall in the first round, led by Jewel Jorgensen, who scored a 76 (+4) on the opening day. Despite every member of the squad recording at least one birdie, the team sat even with Eckerd after playing 18 holes at Lake Jovita.
On Tuesday, Jorgensen, Deanna Confessore, Taylor Sukmana and Jade Staudt all notched multiple birdies to help Palm Beach Atlantic move up. Staudt captained the team in that category with three holes under par.
PBA shot a 319 in the final round of competition, while Jorgensen finished tied for 21st individually with a 154. Confessore shaved seven strokes off of her first-round total to shoot a 163, good enough for 38th place.
Women's golf will conclude its fall season with the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational in Miami on Oct. 28 and 29.
