ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference game to Eckerd College on Saturday, falling 95-50 on the road. PBA falls to 2-9 with the loss while Eckerd improves to 8-4 with the win.
Eckerd got off to a hot start on Saturday afternoon and never looked back, as they jumped out to a 21-2 lead midway through the first quarter. The Tritons went 8-for-10 from three-point range in the first half and led 52-20 at the break.
The Sailfish offense picked it up a bit in the second half but were unable to stop the Tritons offense the whole day, as Eckerd shot over 50 percent from the field in the game.
Jonika Garvin led the way with 12 points, as she also added six rebounds. Four Sailfish players scored six points on the afternoon, as Ciara Cumbie, Ibilola Oyedeji, Katie Stang, and Taylor Laabs finished with six each. Cumbie led the Sailfish on the boards with seven rebounds on the day.
Eckerd had five players who scored in double figures, as Zoe Richards led the way with 26 points and seven rebounds.
The Sailfish will return home for the first time in 2019 on Wednesday for a game against Florida Southern, which is scheduled to tip at 5:30 p.m.
