MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 9 Sailfish men's soccer team conceded a goal for the first time this season but were still able to come away with a victory, defeating Auburn Montgomery 2-1 in the first road match of the season for PBA.
Rafael Souza put PBA (4-0) up midway through the first half with his first career goal. He scored off a deflected shot as Cadu Cusatis picked up the assist. The Warhawks were able to equalize in the 66th minute as Billy Murphy became the first man to score against Elliott Barker this season.
That goal from Murphy set up the Sailfish for a dramatic ending as Claudio Rivadeneira became the hero in the 85th minute, scoring his third goal of the season to keep the Sailfish perfect on the season. Souza earned the assist as PBA once again was able to score off a deflection.
PBA peppered AUM's keeper Alexander Kraus all night, firing off 22 shots. Kraus was able to make seven saves on the night. Barker only had to chances, making one save as AUM took only six shots in the match.
The Sailfish run their undefeated regular season streak to 22 dating back to the 2016 season. In addition, PBA has won seven straight on the road and is undefeated in their last eight road contests.
The 'Fish return to the field on Tuesday to complete their trip to Alabama, taking on Montevallo. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. eastern against the Falcons.
