MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer continued their strong start to the 2018 season on Tuesday, closing out their road trip with a 2-0 win over Montevallo. The Sailfish scored late in each half while earning their fourth shutout in five contests.
The Sailfish (5-0) controlled the match throughout, creating more chances and more dangerous chances throughout the 90 minutes of play. PBA finished the match with 29 shots with 13 on target as Guillermo Deal led the way with eight shots including five on frame.
Late in the first half the 'Fish were finally able to breakthrough as a cross into the box from the left wing was chased down by Claudio Rivadeneira and played back to the middle of the box where Marc Hebbeker was able to slide it into the net. The goal is the second of the year for Hebbeker as Rivadeneira picked up his third assist on the season. Raphael Camps was also credited with an assist on the play, his first of the year.
In the second half it was the play of Cadu Cusatis that created the second goal. After narrowly missing several chances – including hitting the post – Cusatis was able to slip by a Falcon defender inside the box, drawing a foul that was whistled for a penalty kick. Callum Chapman-Page stepped to the spot and calmly buried his second goal of the season in the 74th minute to give the Sailfish a comfortable margin.
Montevallo managed just seven total shots in the match with just three on target. Elliott Barker earned his third shutout of the season by making three saves. He's allowed just one goal on the season in 405 minutes of action.
The Sailfish are back in action on Saturday as they return home to open conference play against Florida Tech. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
