Sailfish Hold Off FIT For First SSC Win

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer held on to defeat Florida Tech 3-2 on Saturday night in the first Sunshine State Conference match of the season for both squads.

PBA – who is ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll – fell behind for the first time this season as Per Henrik Nag from FIT (4-1, 0-1 SSC) scored in the 15th minute of action. Just five minutes later the 'Fish struck, as Claudio Rivadeneira recorded his team 4th goal of the season. Cadu Cusatis picked up the assist to tie him for the team lead with four.

Later in the half it was Marc Hebbeker who found the back of the net for the 3rd time this year. That goal was set up by the nifty work of Raphael Campos. Campos stretch his leg nearly above his head to keep a long pass up the left side in play before stepping inside and working his way into the box, eventually finding Hebbeker for the goal.

In the second half Cusatis scored just five minutes into the second period as Guillermo Deal slid a ball across the goal where Cusatis knocked it into the left corner.

The Panthers found their way back into the match late as Nag snagged his second goal of the match, off a header after a cross into the box. The Sailfish were able to run out the final three minutes of action to secure the win.

FIT took 14 shots in the match with just 12 for the Sailfish. Elliott Barker made four saves and picked off several crosses into the box despite allowing two goals.

PBA is back in action on Wednesday as they host Saint Leo at 7 p.m.
