Sailfish Survive Saint Leo, Stay Undefeated

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer needed a late goal from Marc Hebbeker to hold off Saint Leo on Wednesday night, defeating the Lions 1-0.

The Sailfish (7-0, 2-0 SSC) were limited to a season-low one goal in the match as Saint Leo stifled the high-power Sailfish offense all night long. PBA took 20 shots in the match with 11 on target while Saint Leo was credited with seven total shots and two on target.

PBA was given a penalty kick in the 83rd minute but Luiz Soupinski was denied by keeper Wessel Berenschot. The rebound attempt was also saved by Berenschot as the Lions' keeper made 10 saves in the match.

The breakthrough finally came with just over three minutes remaining in the match. Soupinski found Hebbeker on the left side and Hebbeker worked his way into the box and beat a drawn out Berenschot for his fourth goal of the season. That total ties him for the team lead with Claudio Rivadeneira.

Elliott Barker and Patrick Seuffert split the action in net for PBA on the night, with both men making one save. The shutout for PBA is the fifth already this season.

The 'Fish will have a tough test on Saturday as they hit the road to take on Tampa at 7 p.m.
