WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer scored early and scored often against Newberry College on Friday night, defeating the Wolves 8-0 at the Rinker Athletic Campus.
Leon Hammel got things going early as he notched his first goal with the Sailfish (3-0) in the 4th minute after a nice buildup from Claudio Rivadeneira and Juan Pablo Puelma. Cadu Cusatis added his second goal of the season just two minutes later as Guillermo Deal and Rivadeneira provided the assists.
That was far from the end of the night for Rivadeneira as he added two goals – the first coming in the 28th minute and later off a beautiful volley in the 57th. Cusatis added two assists as well as the Sailfish recorded 10 assists in the match.
Juan Pablo Puelma and Deal each added a goal before halftime as the 'Fish led 5-0 at the break. Alex Stoiljkovic scored his first of the season 10 minutes into the second period before Marc Hebbeker finished the scoring in the 60th minute.
Seven different players scored in the match with eight providing assists including four who also scored a goal. PBA took 23 shots to just seven for the Wolves (1-2-1). Neberry put three on target with Elliott Barker making one save and Patrick Seuffert stopping two. The duo combined for the team's third shutout of the season.
The Sailfish are back in action on Sunday as they take on Auburn Montgomery at 6 p.m. eastern.
