Late Goals Propel Sailfish Past Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic was on the ropes Wednesday night but managed to recover just in time to pull out a 3-2 victory in overtime over Barry. The Bucs led 2-0 until the 85th minute when PBA scored twice in just over a minute to force overtime.

Marc Hebbeker scored first for the 'Fish (10-0, 4-0 SSC) as Blake Barribeau served a ball into the box that Hebbeker got his head to and beat the keeper. Barribeau was at it again just a minute later this time serving a long throw into the box. After it was popped up in the air, Jack Burrows put a right foot to the ball and blasted it into the net to tie the game at 2-2 with 4:11 to go.

In the extra period the Sailfish put together a nice sequence with Claudio Rivadeneira and Juan Pablo Puelma passing it connected on several quick, short passes. In the end it was Rivadeneira who found the back of the net for the fifth time this season to give the 'Fish the win. That's the second game-winner from Rivadeneira this season, tying with Marc Hebbeker for the team lead.

Despite trailing for 85 minutes the 'Fish took six more shots than the Bucs (6-2, 2-1 SSC) with Rafael Souza leading all players with four. Elliott Barker was called upon to make three saves with Barry's Marco Sordi stopping five Sailfish shots.

The Sailfish improve to 4-0-5 in overtime games in the McMahon era which dates back to the 2014 season, including two wins in their last two Sunshine State Conference matches.

PBA will get the weekend off from competition and return to the field on Wednesday, Oct. 3 for a showdown with Lynn University at the Rinker Athletic Campus. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
