Sailfish Upset By Fighting Knights

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer took their first loss of the season on Wednesday night as the No. 2 Sailfish were held without a goal for the first time this season, losing 1-0 to Lynn University.

PBA (10-1, 4-1 SSC) was limited to just 10 shots in the match as the Fighting Knights (7-2, 4-1 SSC) kept control for most of the match. Lynn was able to take 16 shots with six on target but their consistent set pieces and big bodies finally aligned for the game's only goal.

Lynn took 11 corners in the match but were awarded three straight in the 74th minute. On the third attempt Max Herbert lifted a ball to the near post that saw Jack Watson get a head to it and beat Elliott Barker who was shielded from the ball.

Three minutes later the Sailfish saw a header from Marc Hebbeker hit the crossbar as the attempt proved to be the last good chance on the night for the 'Fish. Earlier in the half it was Alex Stoiljkovic that was denied as Lynn's Roberto Bazzichetto made two of his three saves in succession. Barker finished the match with five saves for PBA.

The Sailfish now find themselves in a four-way tie atop the SSC standings after both previously undefeated Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern also lost on Wednesday night. That trio along with Lynn are all 4-1 in conference play and sit on 12 points with Barry (10 points) and Florida Tech (9) lurking behind at the midway point of the SSC schedule.

PBA will turn their attention to Rollins on Saturday as the Tars make the visit to West Palm Beach. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
