WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer picked up their second straight shutout of the 2018 season on Sunday afternoon, defeating Christian Brothers 3-0 at the Rinker Athletic Campus. The win runs their unbeaten streak to 20 in regular season contests dating back to the 2016 season.
After a sluggish start, the 'Fish (2-0) were able to break through on a set piece as Rafael Souza's delivery found the head of Callum Chapman-Page to put PBA on top. The half ended with just four combined shots with PBA taking three as neither team took many chances.
The second half was a much different story as nine of the 10 yellow cards shown came in the final 45 minutes as both teams were whistled for hard challenges. CBU's Michael Longo picked up two yellow cards within three minutes of each other and was sent off, forcing the Bucs (0-2) to play down a man for the remaining 36 minutes.
Soon after PBA gained the man advantage Joao Coutinho gave PBA some breathing room as he netted his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Blake Barribeau got things started with a cross into the box that was headed off the crossbar by Marc Hebbeker. The rebound was knocked home by Coutinho for his second career goal. Later in the half it was Giancarlo Triulzi who provided the final goal off an assist from Drew Fulmer as the 'Fish secured the victory.
So far this season the Sailfish have scored seven goals in their two wins with seven different players finding the net. PBA has yet to concede a goal as Elliott Barker picked up his second straight clean sheet of the season, needing just two saves.
PBA is back in action on Friday at the RAC, hosting Newberry at 7 p.m.
