Sailfish Slug Way to 10-6 Win over Lynn on Friday

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic baseball used two five-run innings on Friday night and pounded 19 hits en route to a 10-6 victory over Palm Beach County rival Lynn University.  The Sailfish pull back to .500 with the win and are now 24-24 on the season while Lynn falls to 22-26 with the loss.

Lynn got on the scoreboard first, as two Sailfish errors led to a first-inning run for the Fighting Knights.  Lynn added two more runs in the third inning on a two-run triple from Shayne Fontana.

The Sailfish bats came alive in the bottom half of the third, as Jake Summey and Ryan Johnson led off with singles.  After a ground out advanced the baserunners, Danny Tufariello singled to left field to plate two runs for the Sailfish, and advanced to third on a fielding error from Lynn.  Evan Dougherty followed with an RBI single, and came around to score on an RBI triple from senior Hakeem Rhodes.  Fellow senior Eddie Vicinanza followed with an RBI double down the right-field line to complete the five-run third for the 'Fish.

After a couple more shutout frames from Sailfish started Mikhail Cazenave, the Sailfish again exploded with another big inning, this time starting with singles from Kevin Fry, Sean Houck, and Summey.  Johnson drove in the first run with a single to left center, and Dougherty, Rhodes, and Vicinanza all picked up RBI hits in the inning to stretch the Sailfish lead to 10-3.

Lynn got three runs back in the seventh inning, as Patrick Dorian hit a three-run homer to right field to cut the Sailfish lead to four.

Orsen Josephina entered the game in the eighth and sat down all six batters he faced to close out the win for the Sailfish.

Cazenave picked up his 10th win on the season, as the redshirt-senior finishes out his 2018 campaign with a 10-7 record.  Cazenave threw 100 innings and struck out 101 batters for the Sailfish this season.

Seven Sailfish hitters finished with multiple hits on the night, as Summey led the way with four.  Johnson and Tufariello both finished 3-for-5 on the night, and Dougherty, Rhodes, Vicinanza, and Houck all finished with two hits.

The Sailfish and Fighting Knights will be back in action tomorrow night, as they will face off at 7 p.m.  Senior Night festivities will begin at 6:45.
