Bertisch's Walk-Off Single Lifts Sailfish to SSC Sweep of Eckerd

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic softball completed their fourth consecutive weekend-series sweep on Sunday, as they defeated Eckerd College 2-1 on a walk-off single by Maddie Bertisch in the bottom of the seventh.  The Sailfish are now 16-2 overall on the season and 9-0 in Sunshine State Conference play.

The Sailfish and Tritons were locked in another pitcher's duel on Sunday morning, as the teams began the series finale at 11 am to avoid potential rain.  The Tritons broke through in the fourth with a run on a bunt single, scratching across their first run of the series.

The Sailfish were without a hit in the first five innings of the game, as Triton starter Ally Costa was in command.  The 'Fish finally got in the hit column when Alexis Guerra pinch-hit to lead off the sixth inning and laced a single to left field.  After a Magnolia West bunt single moved Guerra into scoring position, Michaela Hynes chopped a single over the third baseman's head and into left field to tie the game at one.

The Sailfish walked it off in the next inning, as Bertisch singled into left field with the bases loaded and two outs.  Bertisch picked up her third RBI single of the series as the third baseman had a big weekend at the plate.

Ashton Adkins went the distance in the circle for the 'Fish, striking out nine batters while allowing just five hits.  Adkins picks up her second complete-game victory of the series and is now 6-1 on the season.

West improved her hitting streak to 18 games, as the sophomore has a hit in every game this season.

The Sailfish will return to conference play next weekend, as they will travel south to Boca Raton, Fla. for a three-game series with Lynn University.
