FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Hannah Grim became the Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball all-time leading scorer on Wednesday night as the Sailfish dropped their final road game of the year, 85-71 to Nova Southeastern.
Grim finished with a game-high 27 points as the senior guard knocked down 9-of-22 from the floor and 8-of-11 from the free throw line. She scored nine points in the opening quarter, knocking down a trey with 1:25 to go that gave her the scoring record.
The Sailfish kept it close through the first quarter, trailing just 22-19 after the opening ten minutes despite the Sharks hitting five 3-pointers. The Sharks were able to take advantage of a tough second quarter for PBA as the 'Fish scored just eight points as NSU went into the break leading 43-27.
PBA was able to outscore the Sharks in the second half (44-42) but the Sharks shot the ball too well from the outside for the 'Fish to make a comeback. NSU made 13-of-29 from deep overall including 6-of-14 in the second half while PBA made just 6-of-10 in the game.
Tyler Davis was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game for PBA behind the arc and finished with 11 points. Jane Svilberg added nine points including one triple while Caroline Patrick scored seven points. The PBA bench scored 31 points in the game. Ciara Cumbie finished with a team-best 10 rebounds.
Grim now sits at 1,202 points in just three years at PBA after spending her freshman season at Marquette University. She breaks the career record of Ashley Dolberry who scored 1,182 points during her four years from 2009-13. Grim is also just 23 points away from tying the single season scoring record of 516 held by Kasie Parker.
The Sailfish close out the regular season on Saturday for senior day against Eckerd at 2 p.m.
