WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference game against Florida Tech on Saturday, as the Panthers outscored the Sailfish 18-9 in the fourth quarter to pick up a 61-52 victory inside Rubin Arena. The Sailfish now fall to 4-20 on the season with just two games remaining.
The Sailfish got off to a poor start on Saturday, as the Panthers only shot 32 percent in the first half and were unable to make a three-pointer but took a 31-24 lead into the break. The Sailfish shot 35 percent in the first half of play, but turned the ball over nine times in the first 20 minutes.
The 'Fish came out of the break on fire, as Tyler Davis made a couple of key three-pointers, and the 'Fish tied the game up at the end of three quarters 43-43.
Florida Tech answered with a run of their own however, running away from the Sailfish late in Saturday's conference matchup with 18 fourth-quarter points.
DeLise Williams had a stellar day for the Panthers, as the Sailfish defense struggled to contain her. Williams finished the game with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Nkiru Anyagaligbo led the Sailfish in scoring on the day, as she totaled 12 points and six rebounds. The SSC scoring leader Hannah Grim had a rough day, as she fouled out of the contest with just 10 points, but did add eight rebounds and four assists.
Ciara Cumbie finished with nine points and nine boards, while Davis finished with 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
The Sailfish will travel south to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, Feb. 21 as they will face off with the Sharks at 5:30 p.m.
