Spartans Pull Away Late to Defeat Sailfish 67-52

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference game on Wednesday evening, as they fell to the Tampa Spartans for the second time on the season.  The Sailfish drop to 3-14 in conference play and are eliminated from conference tournament contention after Wednesday's loss.

Tampa's defense stifled PBA in the first half inside Rubin Arena, as they held the Sailfish to just seven made field goals in the half, and took a 32-19 lead into the break.  The SSC scoring leader Hannah Grim also struggled in the first half, shooting just 2-for-15 from the field and entering halftime with five points.

The Sailfish went on a nice run in the third quarter cutting the Tampa lead to six points, but the Tampa offense made key baskets late in the quarter to gain back their commanding lead.

The Spartans had four players finish with double-digit point totals, as Emily Eshoo led the way with 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals.

Nkiru Anyagaligbo had another great night on the offensive end of the floor, as she finished with 22 points and nine rebounds.  The Miami, Fla. native was very efficient on the night, making 10 of her 13 shots from the floor.

Grim finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and four steals for the 'Fish on Wednesday.

The Sailfish will return to play on Saturday, Feb. 17 as they will host Florida Tech at 2 p.m.
