Women's Basketball Overpowered by Rollins on Friday Afternoon

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a home game on Friday against Rollins College, as the Sailfish fell 69-41 to the Tars and drop to 0-3 in Sunshine State Conference play on the season.  The Tars continue their strong start to SSC play as they now sit at 3-0 in league play.

The Sailfish found themselves in a huge hole in the blink of an eye on Friday, as they trailed the Tars 20-1 just seven minutes into the opening quarter of play.  Taylor Laabs then hit a three-pointer from long range to give the 'Fish their first field goal of the game but the Sailfish trailed 22-4 at the end of the first quarter and were unable to recover from the poor start.

The 'Fish rebounded nicely, as they outscored Rollins 13-10 in the second quarter but still trailed 32-17 at the half.

Rollins kept up their hot shooting in the second half and took the game by a 69-41 final score.  The 'Fish did not have an answer for Denise Daniels on the afternoon, as she finished with 22 points on 11-of-17 shooting and added nine rebounds and three steals.

Jonika Garvin led the Sailfish in scoring with her 10 points in the game, as the senior added five rebounds.  Victoria Self had a nice game off the bench for the 'Fish, as the freshman scored eight points and added a team-high four assists.  Laabs finished with five points and six rebounds in the contest while Ciara Cumbie finished with four points and five boards.

The Sailfish will have a little over a week off before facing off with Truman State in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on Monday, Dec. 17 at the Cruzin' Classic.
