WINTER PARK, Fla. - Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer fell 1-0 on Saturday night away at Rollins. A strong defensive showing was not enough to bolster the offense of the 'Fish.
The Tars had numerous offensive opportunities in the first half. Chyna McGirt nearly made it 1-0 for the Tars in the 19th minute when her shot from outside the box missed just over the crossbar.
Sailfish goalkeeper Madison Chiola kept the game scoreless in the 20th minute, saving a point blank shot from Kathryn O'Brien on the left side of the goal by diving to deflect the shot away from danger.
Rollins scored the go-ahead goal in the 31st minute on a strike from Kathryn O'Brien, assisted by Katie Evans. PBA ended the first half trailing 1-0 to Rollins.
The Sailfish had two chances in the second half to draw even but fell short. Kylie Meola had her shot from the right side of the box in the 64th minute saved by Kelly Rowswell, while Kiana Magner's free kick outside of the box in the 72nd minute missed high.
PBA had a free kick opportunity in the closing seconds of regulation, but Shannon Berg's cross in was deflected out of the box by Rollins. The Tars dribbled the deflection out of their defensive zone to close out the second half and win the game, 1-0.
Palm Beach Atlantic will host Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
