WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped their third straight contest Saturday afternoon, falling to the Florida Southern College Moccasins by an 86-45 final score. The first-place Mocs improve to 16-3 overall and 11-2 in the Sunshine State Conference with the victory while the 'Fish fall to 4-15 overall and 3-10 in league play.
Florida Southern dominated play from start to finish on Saturday inside Rubin Arena, as they started out red-hot offensively, scoring 26 points in the first quarter of play. The Mocs scored 21 more in the second quarter to take a 47-27 lead into halftime. Camille Giardina had a monster first half for Florida Southern, scoring 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
The Mocs quickly ended any hope of a Sailfish comeback in the third quarter, as they outscored PBA 20-4 in the third, and easily coasted to an 86-45 victory.
Nkiru Anyagaligbo led the 'Fish in scoring on the afternoon, as the senior scored 12 points and added six rebounds. The Miami, Fla. native loses her streak of four consecutive double-doubles. Mina Salhia added 11 points off the bench for the 'Fish, while also assisting on four baskets. The SSC leading scorer had a tough go of it on Saturday, as Hannah Grim was able to manage just eight points on 4-of-13 shooting.
The Sailfish will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday, Jan. 31 as they will host South-Florida rival Barry University inside Rubin Arena for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
