Sailfish Suffer Overtime Heartbreak at Saint Leo

ST. LEO, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball had two chances down the stretch to hit a game-winning shot but ultimately came up short in overtime, falling to Saint Leo 76-75 on Saturday night.

The Sailfish (10-12, 4-7 SSC) had a chance to win with the score tied 69-69 at the end of regulation but a last second three-pointer was off the mark. After building a four point lead in the extra session the Sailfish found themselves down by one with 10 seconds left. Another three – this time by Bakari Warthen – went in and out as the Sailfish suffered their fourth straight loss.

After leading early the Sailfish trailed by double digits midway through the first half but managed to get the deficit down to five by halftime. Both teams shot 38 percent from the floor in the half but the Lions () managed to make two more 3-pointers than the 'Fish.

In the second half De'Ondre Jackson scored 12 of his team-high 20 while Marshall Riddle knocked down three from long range as the Sailfish fought back into the game.

After trailing by as much as eight in the half, the 'Fish used a 13-5 run to tie the game at 53-53 with 11:24 to go, but it wasn't until a three by Lucas Morales two minutes later that PBA finally retook the lead at 58-57. Down the stretch the lead changed hands twice and the score was tied three times before the Lions made one of two free throws to ultimately send the game into overtime.

Riddle finished with 12 points on four made triples for PBA with Jules Jasmin also finished with 12 points including making 5-of-6 at the free throw line. He also grabbed seven rebounds, tied for the team lead with Warthen.

The 'Fish made 12-of-19 at the free throw line, including 6-of-6 in the overtime period. Those six free throws accounted for all of PBA's points in overtime as the team missed all six field goal attempts.
