WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball kept up their solid play in 2018, defeating South Florida rival Nova Southeastern University by a 73-60 final score. The 'Fish have now won three of their last four games and improve to 4-12 overall and 3-7 in Sunshine State Conference play. Nova Southeastern drops to 9-7 on the year and 5-5 in league play.
Senior Hannah Grim had a strong first half on Wednesday, as she scored 15 of the 26 Sailfish points in the half to keep the game close. The 'Fish shot 40 percent in the half and limited the Sharks to 25.7 percent from the floor but NSU grabbed 10 offensive rebounds and took a 28-26 lead into the break.
The second half is where Palm Beach Atlantic really found their groove on the offensive end of the court, as the 'Fish shot 59 percent (17-of-29) and scored 47 points in the half. Nkiru Anyagaligbo had a dominant half down low, as she made seven of eight of her shots from the field and scored 16 points, while also pulling down eight rebounds.
Tyler Davis scored 12 of her 14 points in the second half, as she played a solid game for the 'Fish as well. Grim finished with 23 points and three assists on the day, as the SSC leader in scoring has now scored 20 points or more in five consecutive games.
Anyagaligbo recorded her second straight double-double with her 21 point and 10 rebound performance. Mina Salhia also finished in double figures scoring, as she scored 10 points in 25 minutes of play.
The Sailfish defended the NSU three-point attack well on the night, holding the Sharks to just 3-of-26 shooting from long range. Christen Prasse led the Sharks in scoring on the night, as she scored 15 points and added six assists.
The Sailfish will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 as they will travel to Saint Leo for a 5:30 p.m. start.
