WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball used a monster fourth quarter Saturday to come back from 12 points down and defeat cross-county rival Lynn University by a 70-61 final score. The Sailfish improve to 3-12 on the season and are now 2-1 in the 2018 calendar year. The 'Fish improve to 2-7 in Sunshine State Conference play with the win over Lynn, who drops to 3-6 in league play.
The Sailfish got off to a good start on Saturday, as they led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter of play. The Fighting Knights found their groove in the second quarter, as they scored 24 points in the second quarter and took a 31-26 lead into halftime. Nkiru Anyagaligbo led the way for the 'Fish in the half, as she scored 11 points and added six rebounds in the half.
Lynn outscored the Sailfish 18-13 in the third quarter, as PBA entered the fourth quarter trailing by 10 points. The 'Fish broke out offensively in a huge way in the fourth quarter, as they scored 31 points and came back to defeat the Fighting Knights 70-61. Hannah Grim scored 17 points in the second half, as she finished her day with 20 points and six rebounds. Ciara Cumbie played a solid game down low for the 'Fish, as she finished with nine points and eight rebounds and also picked up three steals.
Anyagaligbo was a force to be reckoned with on Saturday, as she posted 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 'Fish on the offensive end of the court. Five of her rebounds on the day were offensive rebounds. The 'Fish finished the game 5-of-10 from long range.
Lynn was led by Jaylen Snipes on the afternoon, as she finished with 21 points, six rebounds, and six assists in 36 minutes of game play.
The Sailfish will return to action on Jan 17 as they will host Nova Southeastern University inside Rubin Arena at 530 p.m.
