MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball was supposed to play at home for the first time this year this weekend but with Hurricane Irma looming in the Atlantic the 'Fish changed course and ended up playing a tri-match in Alabama against Queens University of Charlotte and Montevallo, who hosted the event.
The Sailfish rolled to their fifth win in as many tries during the season and still have yet to drop a set as they turn their attention to the Sunshine State Conference this next week. PBA is scheduled to play Embry-Riddle inside Rubin Arena on Friday with a trip to Rollins the following day, Sept. 16.
With the two wins the Sailfish have won 37 straight regular season matches and will put their 35-match winning streak at home on the line on Friday. The Sailfish jumped up to No. 4 in the AVCA rankings after the first weekend.
Palm Beach Atlantic 3, Queens University of Charlotte 0
After a slow start the Sailfish rebounded to hit .272 for the match in securing their fourth sweep to start the season.
Raegan Grooms led the way with 11 kills and recorded her first double double of the season while
Ally Rohn recorded her first triple double of the season.
Grooms and Rohn both hit .333 for the match while
Jazz Schmidt led the way with a .368 attack. Schmidt and Rohn both collected 10 kills as
Sarah Kimmey,
Maddie Span and
Sophie Hoekstra each added five kills.
Grooms finished the match with a team-high 17 digs as Rohn added 10 digs and a team-high 23 assists.
Molly Burkhardt had 17 assists and nine digs while
Susie Forbes added 15 digs. The defense held the Royals to a .079 attack including hitting zero during the first set.
PBA hit only .125 in the opening set but bounced back to hit .353 and .406 in the second and third sets.

The Sailfish continued to roll, knocking off the host Falcons 25-19, 25-12, 25-17 to close out the weekend. The 'Fish hit a season-high .434 in the win with 10 different players recording a kill.
Rohn continued her solid play with 13 kills on 21 attempts and a .571 attack percentage. She added 15 assists and eight digs to secure her fourth double double.
Sophie Hoekstra was perfect on the day, with seven kills on seven attempts. She added two blocks as the 'Fish recorded nine team blocks.
Burkhardt led the team with 19 assists and also had seven digs. She collected two kills as well.
Sarah Kimmey led the team with five blocks and also had six kills, hitting .500 in the process.
Jazz Schmidt added seven kills, three blocks and three digs. Forbes added eight digs to tie Rohn for the team lead.
