MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer dropped a Sunshine State Conference match on Wednesday evening to Barry University, falling by a 1-0 final score. The Sailfish fall to 1-5 overall, and 0-3 in conference play. The 'Fish have played good defense in conference play, but have lost all three matches by 1-0 final scores.
The first half was a familiar one for the Sailfish, as both defenses dominated the first 45 minutes. The Sailfish and Bucs both finished the half with two shots on goal, with
Isabelle Granlund and Melanie Ziegner stopping the first half scoring attempts.
The Buccaneers scored the deciding goal in the 74
th minute, as Amanda Traynor broke the scoreless tie. The Sailfish were unable to put a goal in the back of the net, as they fell by the 1-0 final score.
"We came up a goal short from getting the result we wanted," said PBA head coach
Chris Gnehm. "I am extremely proud however in the way we played in the second half. If we continue to stay persistent and give ourselves opportunities to win night after night we have to believe we will get the result we are pushing towards."
The Sailfish will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 4 as they will host Palm Beach County rival Lynn University at 7 p.m. PBA has also rescheduled their Sunshine State Conference match with Florida Tech that was postponed due to Hurricane Irma. The match will be played at the Rinker Athletic Campus on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.
