No. 8 Sailfish Stay Undefeated, Defeat Bucs 1-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer continued their strong stretch of dominant defense Wednesday night as they defeated Barry University 1-0 at the Rinker Athletic Campus.  The No. 8 ranked Sailfish improve to 5-0-2 on the season, and 2-0-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The 'Fish have now shutout five of their seven opponents on the season, and have only allowed two goals.

The Sailfish provided some early excitement for their home fans tonight, as Gabriel Saroli just needed one minute and 18 seconds to score his second goal of the season, which was assisted by Alex Stoiljkovic and Jerry Saint-Vil.  Saint-Vil has now recorded at least one point in the last four matches, including all three of the conference matches for the 'Fish.

The Sailfish defense stifled the Barry attack in the first half, allowing just two Buccaneer shots, and only one shot on target.  The second half wasn't much different, as the Sailfish ended up out-shooting the Buccaneers 14-6 on the night.  Sailfish goalkeeper Elliott Barker made two saves on the night, and recorded his third clean sheet of the season.

Palm Beach Atlantic had lost to Barry in both of the last two seasons, as the Bucs were the only SSC team to hand the Sailfish a regular-season loss in both 2015 and 2016.

PBA has rescheduled both of the matches that were postponed due to Hurricane Irma.  The Sailfish will now host Florida Memorial University on Monday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.  The 'Fish will wrap up their regular season by traveling to Melbourne to take on Florida Tech on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
