Volleyball Returns Home For 35th Straight Win In Rubin Arena

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – For the first time this season the Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball team was able to play in front of a home crowd and the wait didn't disappoint as the Sailfish swept Florida Tech 25-17, 25-15, 25-17.

The Sailfish improved to 10-0 on the season and 5-0 inside the Sunshine State Conference while the loss drops FIT to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in league play.

Ally Rohn notched her third triple double of the season as the 'Fish hit .259 for the match. Rohn finished the match with 11 kills, 10 digs and a team-high 16 assists. She also recorded three aces. Sophie Hoekstra added 10 kills and hit .400 for the match. The junior opposite hitter collected five of those kills in the opening set.

The 'Fish and Panthers were tied early on in set one, 9-9, before PBA scored six straight. Rohn collected two kills during the run with Jazz Schmidt picking up a kill and one of her three aces. PBA collected seven aces during the match and did not have a reception error.

PBA scored 11 of the final 14 points in set two and six of the final eight in set three to secure their ninth sweep in 10 matches. The win pushes the Sailfish's home court winning streak to 35 matches, a streak they will put on the line again this weekend.

Schmidt added six kills on nine attempts, good for a .556 attack percentage while Sarah Kimmey and Raegan Grooms each added five kills. Grooms also had 11 digs. Molly Burkhardt registered 15 assists, five digs and two kills while Susie Forbes led the defense with 18 digs. Kimmey and Maddie Span led the way with three blocks each.

The Sailfish will host the University of Tampa on Friday at 7 p.m. before closing out the weekend with Florida Southern visiting Rubin Arena Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m.
