Women's Soccer Falls to Lions in Defensive Struggle

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer fell to Saint Leo on Wednesday night, as a first half goal by the Lions proved to be the difference in the contest.  The Sailfish ended up with more shots, more corners, and less fouls in the match, but were unable to connect on a shot, and fell to 1-3-0 on the young season. 

The 'Fish, who haven't played since Sept. 5 due to Hurricane Irma, struggled to get anything going in the first half of the match.  The Sailfish only tallied two shots in the half, and trailed 1-0 at the break due to a 16th minute goal by Kirsten Cleveland. 

The Sailfish played much better in the second 45 minutes, outshooting the Lions 6-2.  The Sailfish had a couple good chances to score, as Taylor Frizen broke away from the Lion defense in the 47th minute but had her shot saved by the Saint Leo keeper.  Karina Williams also had a good scoring chance, but her shot in the 57th minute was also gobbled up by the Lion goalie. 

The Sailfish will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23 as they will travel to the University of Tampa for another Sunshine State Conference match.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
