ST. LEO, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic continued their streak of shutouts on Wednesday evening, as they defeated Saint Leo University by a 3-0 score in their first Sunshine State Conference match of the season. The No. 9 ranked Sailfish improve to 4-0-1 on the season with the victory, and have now gone almost 400 minutes of play since allowing their last goal.
The 'Fish didn't wait long to score their first conference goal of the season, as
Callum Chapman-Page headed a ball past the Saint Leo goalkeeper in the 12
th minute off a cross by
Charlie Dennis. The goal was Chapman-Page's first of the season.
The Sailfish added on to their lead just four minutes later, as
Kebba Nyang scored his second goal of the season, which was assisted by senior
Jerry Saint-Vil. The 'Fish added a third goal in the first 45 minutes, as
Fredo Dilbert scored his second goal of the season.
Phill Cardoso picked up his first point of the season as he assisted on Dilbert's 39
th minute goal.
PBA didn't allow a shot in the first half, as they dominated possession in the entire SSC contest.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second half on Wednesday, as the matched finished 3-0 in favor of the Sailfish. The 'Fish outshot the Lions by a 12-5 total, and only allowed three shots on goal.
Elliott Barker picked up his second shutout of the season, as Barker and
Patrick Seuffert are tied with two shutouts each.
The Sailfish will return home to face off with the University of Tampa on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. The match will be a rematch of the 2016 NCAA South Region Championship match, which was won by Tampa 3-2.
