Sailfish Storm Past Concordia, Win 6-0

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer got their 2017 season started the right way Friday, scoring five second-half goals en route to a 6-0 victory over Concordia (N.Y.) at Bobby Campbell Stadium on the campus of Lynn University.

Sailfish freshman Nicole Richards was the first Sailfish player to find the net on the afternoon, as the Miami native scored her first collegiate goal in the 29th minute to give the Sailfish the lead.  That was all the scoring in the first half as the Sailfish took 10 shots in the half and only allowed one.

The second half saw the Sailfish go on a scoring frenzy which began in the 56th minute after a Concordia red card forced them to play with only 10 players.  Senior Kayla Fisher began the second half scoring in the 56th minute as she scored on a one-timer from inside the box.  Signe Madsen assisted the goal, and picked up her first point as a member of the Sailfish.

Lindsey Pinder and Sydney Jimenez were the next 'Fish to join in the fun, as they both scored the first goals of their careers in the second half to put the 'Fish up 4-0.  Freshman Taylor Frizen scored two goals late in the match to give the 'Fish the 6-0 victory, as they win their season opener for the third consecutive season.

The PBA defense was stellar on the afternoon, as they allowed just two total shots.  Goalkeepers Isabelle Granlund and Alexis Sanquist combined for the shutout of the Clippers.

The Sailfish will be back in Boca Raton on Sunday for a 10 a.m. start against the No. 8 ranked University of West Florida Argos.
