ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Hannah Grim's double-double wasn't enough for Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon as the Sailfish fell to Eckerd College 68-44 in a Sunshine State Conference contest.
Both teams struggled shooting the ball throughout and especially early as the teams combined for seven points in the first five minutes of action. The Tritons (9-1, 4-1 SSC) picked up the pace to end the quarter, scoring 10 points and carried it through the half, leading 32-17 after the first 20 minutes. The Sailfish (1-8, 0-5 SSC) were never able to get on track, shooting 25 percent in the first half.
Grim scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in the second half as she got to the free throw line six times, making five. She finished 5-of-17 overall from the floor and made one of the team's five 3's. Grim also led the team with 10 rebounds, pulling down nine in the first half.
Ciara Cumbie scored six of her eight points in the second half as she finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor in the game. Jane Svilberg added five points and four rebounds for the Sailfish who finished the game shooting 30 percent. PBA made 5-of-17 from long range while the Tritons made 9-of-22. Eckerd shot 39 percent overall.
PBA will be back in action on Sunday at 5 p.m. as they travel to Daytona Beach to take on Bethune-Cookman in an exhibition contest.
