Women's Basketball Drops Exhibition Contest To Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball took on Bethune-Cookman in an exhibition contest for the Sailfish just over 24 hours after battling Eckerd on Saturday. The 'Fish were unable to pull off an upset over the NCAA D1 Wildcats on Sunday, falling 61-48.

Tyler Davis scored seven of her team-high 12 points in the first half as the Sailfish struggled to just a 21 percent shooting half. Hannah Grim added three made field goals in the half as the duo combined for 13 of the team's 18 points in the first 20 minutes. The Sailfish trailed 29-18 at the break.

In the second half it was Nkiru Anyagligbo who led the way for PBA, scoring all nine of her points in the second half. She made 4-of-7 from the floor in the second half as PBA shot 46 percent after halftime. The Sailfish played the Wildcats much closer in the second half as BCU held only a two point advantage after halftime.

Caroline Patrick hit half of her six 3-point attempts to finish the game with nine points. Davis connected on 2-of-5 from long range. Grim finished with 10 points, six assists and nine rebounds while Ciara Cumbie led PBA with 11 boards. Davis also finished with strong numbers, adding three assists and seven rebounds to her point total.

The Sailfish will have an extended break before they travel to Minnesota for a pair of games next week. PBA will take on Concordia-St. Paul on Monday, Dec. 18 followed by a contest at Minnesota State Mankato the next day.
