Bench Leads Sailfish Past Saint Leo

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball snapped a three-game skid on Saturday, picking up a 74-68 victory over Saint Leo in Sunshine State Conference action. The win pushes the 'Fish to 5-5 on the season and 2-2 in the SSC.

A pair of free throws from Jules Jasmin broke a 62-62 tie inside the final four minutes as the Sailfish built an eight point lead from there and held on for the victory. Jasmin added another bucket before De'Ondre Jackson scored five straight to give PBA a 71-63 lead with 1:49 to play.

After the Lions cut the deficit back to one possession with 31 seconds left, Jackson sealed it with a dunk with 20 seconds to go. He added a free throw later as he scored eight of his 14 inside the final three minutes. He finished the game 6-of-9 from the floor in 18 minutes and was the leading contributor to the team's 38 bench points.

Marshall Riddle added 13 points off the bench with 10 coming in the first half as the 'Fish lead 32-31 after the first 20 minutes. Riddle connected on three 3's in the game as the Sailfish knocked down 8-of-24 from deep.

Bakari Warthen added eight of his 13 points in the first half, one of 10 players that scored in the game for PBA. Jasmin added nine with Dakota Zinser hitting both his 3-point attempts to finish with eight points. Grant Gullett and Milos Kostic each scored five.

Saint Leo shot just 39 percent from the floor overall and made just 6-of-27 from beyond the arc. The 'Fish shot nearly 46 percent overall. Warthen and Matthew Johnson led the undersized 'Fish with seven rebounds each with Lucas Morales and Jasmin each pulling in six.
