Women's Basketball Ends Trip to Minnesota With Loss to Mavericks

MANKATO, Minn. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped the final game of their trip to Minnesota on Tuesday, falling to Minnesota State by a 69-52 final score.  The Sailfish fall to 1-10 with the non-conference loss.  Minnesota State improves to 4-7 with the victory.

The Mavericks got out to a solid start in the first half, as they held the Sailfish to 28 percent shooting from the field in the first 20 minutes.  Tyler Davis and Mina Salhia led the way with six points each in the half, while the Sailfish leading scorer Hannah Grim was held scoreless in the first half of play. 

Minnesota State scored 38 points in the first two quarters, and shot 44 percent from long range in the half.  Logan Anderson made five-of-six field goals in the half to finish with 13 points.

Grim was able to find her offensive game in the second half as she scored 10 points, but the Sailfish were just able to play the Mavericks to an even half as both teams scored 31 points and Minnesota State held their 17 point advantage to win 69-52. 

Davis led the 'Fish on the day, as she finished with 13 points and went 3-for-8 from three-point range.  Ciara Cumbie pulled down 10 rebounds for the 'Fish and Nkiru Anyagaligbo scored five points and added eight rebounds on the day.  Salhia finished with 10 points and also finished with four steals on the day.

The Sailfish will be back in action on Dec. 30 as they will travel to Melbourne, Fla. to take on Florida Tech in a Sunshine State Conference game.
