FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball, fueled by a 63-point second half, picked up a south region victory on Monday as they defeated Southern Wesleyan University by a 102-59 final. The Sailfish climb back to .500 with the win and now sit at 6-6 on the year. The Warriors fall to 1-10 with the loss, which came on the campus of Emmanuel College.
The Sailfish offense started slow in the first half, as they struggled shooting from long range as well as at the free-throw line in the half. The 'Fish dominated play in the paint however, and still managed to shoot 56 percent overall in the half to take a 39-32 lead into the break. Jules Jasmin and Bakari Warthen combined to go a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the half to lead the Sailfish offense.
PBA could do no wrong on the offensive side of the ball in the second half, as they made their first six shots of the second half, and shot a blistering 71 percent (24-for-34) in the final 20 minutes. The 'Fish also shot 59 percent (10-for-17) from long range in the second half and held the Warriors to just 29 points in the half on just 35 percent shooting.
Jasmin led the way with 23 points in total, as the freshman was a perfect 10-for-10 shooting on the night, and also pulled down seven rebounds. De'Ondre Jackson was also efficient on the night, as he shot 7-for-10 from the field and finished with 16 points off the bench. The Sailfish bench in total outscored the entire Southern Wesleyan team 60-59 on the night.
Dakota Zinser made 4-of-6 three pointers on the night as he finished with 14 points. Warthen continued his strong play as of late, as the junior scored 13 points and added five rebounds. The Sailfish got strong play from their big guys on Monday, as Lucas Morales and Milos Kostic turned in solid performances for the 'Fish. Morales scored just three points but finished with six assists and two steals, while Kostic scored 10 points and dished out seven assists in the game.
The Sailfish will return to play tomorrow, Nov. 12 as they will face Emmanuel College at 4 p.m.
