MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference game to Barry University Wednesday, as Barry's second-half three point shooting was lights out, and propelled the Buccaneers to a 94-67 victory.
The Sailfish and Bucs played an even first half on Wednesday, as the Sailfish got 14 points from Hannah Grim in the half and finished the first 20 minutes tied with the Bucs 31-31. The 'Fish held the Bucs to 33 percent shooting from the field in the half, and just 20 percent (2-of-10) from long range.
The second half was a different story, as Barry simply could not miss from three-point range. The Buccaneers went 15-for-19 from long range in the half, which accounted for 45 of their 63 second half points. Barbara Cousino, Harriet Swindells, and Melanie Jordan combined to go 11-for-11 for the Bucs from long range.
The 'Fish could not withstand the offensive surge from the Bucs, and fell by the 94-67 final score. The Sailfish fall to 1-6 with the loss and 0-3 in conference play. Barry improves to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in SSC play.
Grim turned in another 20-point performance on the night, as she finished with 24 points and three rebounds. Jane Svilberg had an efficient night for the 'Fish, as she shot 5-of-8 from the field and finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Aniyah Ross turned in her best offensive performance of the season, as the sophomore scored eight points on the night.
The Sailfish will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 2 as they will host Saint Leo at 2 p.m. inside Rubin Arena.
