MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped their final game at the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic at the campus of Barry University, falling to Southwest Baptist by a 75-67 final score. The Sailfish fall to 1-5 on the young season with the loss to the Bearcats.
The Sailfish struggled out of the gate on Saturday night, as they shot just 33.3 percent (11-of-33) in the first half from the field. Hannah Grim led the 'Fish with nine first-half points, but the 'Fish trailed 32-25 at the break.
The Sailfish came out of the break on fire, as they outscored the Bearcats 27-18 in the third quarter. Tyler Davis scored 14 points in the third quarter alone, as she finished the night with a season-high 21 points. The Sailfish led the Bearcats by two at the end of the third quarter of play.
Southwest Baptist University pulled away late in the fourth quarter, and outscored the 'Fish by 10 in the quarter to win by the 75-67 final.
Davis' 21 led the 'Fish in scoring, as Ciara Cumbie turned in another impressive performance, scoring 14 points and adding 11 rebounds on the night. Grim finished with 11 points, and was named to the All-Tournament Team for the Thanksgiving Classic. Mina Salhia scored in double-digits for the second consecutive night, as she finished with 10 points and four rebounds.
The Sailfish will return to play on Wednesday, Nov. 29 as they will travel back to Barry University for a 5:30 p.m. start.
