Sailfish Drop Home Opener to Eagles 74-60

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's basketball dropped a Sunshine State Conference matchup with Embry-Riddle on Wednesday, falling by a 74-60 final score.  The Sailfish fall to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play while the Eagles improve to 3-0 on the year.

The Sailfish played a strong first half on Wednesday, as they led the Eagles by a 35-28 score at the break.  The 'Fish outscored Embry-Riddle 19-13 in the second quarter, and senior Hannah Grim led the way offensively, as she scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the half.  The 'Fish shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line in the half, Darsan Deshazier recorded three steals in the half for the Sailfish who forced seven Eagle turnovers.

The third quarter is where the Eagles really turned it on, as they outscored the Sailfish 24-11 to open up a six point lead.  The Eagles also outscored the Sailfish in the final quarter of play 22-14 to win by the 74-60 final score.

Grim finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds as she recorded a double-double on the night.  Jane Svilberg added nine points for the 'Fish before fouling out on Wednesday evening.  Caroline Patrick scored nine points off the bench for the 'Fish as she went 3-for-7 from long range. 

Sabrina Whiting and Tara Fields scored 15 points each for the Eagles to lead Embry-Riddle in scoring. 

The Sailfish will be back in action Saturday, Nov. 18 in Lakeland, Fla. as they will take on Florida Southern College at 5:30 p.m.
