Fish Pass Another Tough Road Test, Shutout Rollins to Remain Unbeaten

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The No. 8 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic men's soccer team faced a tough road test on Saturday evening, as they traveled for their second match of the week against a top-20 opponent.  The 'Sailfish dominated possession throughout the match, but were unable to find the back of the net until the 85th minute, when Cleef Desir blasted a shot past the Rollins goalkeeper to give the 'Fish a 1-0 victory.

The No. 17 Tars found some holes in the Sailfish defense early in Saturday's match, as goalie Elliott Barker was forced to make two saves in the first 20 minutes.  PBA's back-line really stepped it up after the initial surge, as they only allowed six total shots in the match, and only three shots on goal.  PBA's defense, which is ranked first in the country in goals allowed average, has now shutout eight of their 10 opponents on the season, and have only allowed one goal in conference play.

The Sailfish out-shot Rollins 16-6 in the match, and ended up with 12 corners as the Tars earned just four.  It looked as if the Tars would earn a hard-fought one point in the match, but late in the second period Juan Pablo Puelma played a beautiful through ball to Desir, who had run past the Tar defense to create the scoring chance, which he converted on for the 'Fish.  The goal is Desir's second game-winner of the week, as the senior also scored on Wednesday in PBA's 1-0 victory over No. 4 ranked Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Sailfish remain on top of the Sunshine State Conference standings, as their 4-0-1 conference record has them one point ahead of both Florida Tech and Lynn.  The 'Fish will be back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 11 as they will host Nova Southeastern University at the Rinker Athletic Campus.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
