Late Goal Dooms Sailfish at Eckerd

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic women's soccer fell in a Sunshine State Conference matchup on Saturday evening to Eckerd College, as a late goal led to a 1-0 win for the Tritons.  The loss drops the Sailfish to 2-7-1 on the season. 

The Sailfish and Tritons played a very even first half, as both squads had chances to score.  The Sailfish and Tritons collected four shots on goal each in the first 45 minutes, with both goalkeepers making the four saves. 

The game remained scoreless until the 82nd minute, when Kayla Gray intercepted a pass and beat Sailfish goalie Isabelle Granlund for the game-winning goal.  Karina Williams finished the match with three shots for the 'Fish, but was unable to find the back of the net as the 'Fish lost 1-0. 

"This loss will hurt for a couple of days.  We played well but just did not make the plays we needed to get the win," said Sailfish head coach Chris Gnehm.  "We worked hard until the final minute and had a goal called back.  I am proud of our effort and we will regroup and get ready for our senior night Saturday."

Palm Beach Atlantic will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 as they will host Florida Southern College for senior night.  The match is scheduled for a 7 pm kickoff.
